Low Back Pain
Surveys have shown that almost 80% of people in the United States will suffer from low back pain at some point in their lifetime. The U.S. agency for Health Care Policy and Research recently created a panel of medical experts to review nearly 4,000 studies on acute low back pain. They rejected such treatments as bed rest, surgery (except in rare cases), spinal injections, and oral prescription drugs like steroids. They found ,however, that chiropractic adjustments “can be helpful for patients with low back problems”. Another in the medical journal Spine, stated that chiropractic care was beneficial for chronic low back pain, as well There are some low back problems that will not respond to adjustments. In these cases, we will evaluate the injury and decide weather spinal decompression will help. If your injury is too severe for spinal decompression to treat, we have referral relationships with excellent neurosurgeons that can help. Again, your health is our main concern and we will do anything we can to get you enjoying life again.
Headaches
Let me start by saying that we have been lucky enough over the years to help thousands of people who thought they would live the rest of their life with headaches, rid themselves of them completely. By the way, this includes migraines. Modern life, sleeping positions, positions while working on the computer along with many other factors can cause the neck bones to lose their proper biomechanics (the way they move). This makes the muscles of the neck tighten and causes swelling around the nerves. When the swelling gets bad enough, it puts pressure on the nerves that course up into the back of the head and end behind the eyes. This is your headache. By restoring proper motion in the neck bones and allowing the nerves to heal, we are able to rid the patient of their headaches.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The median nerve begins at the neck, passes through the shoulder area, down the arm, through the wrist to the hand and the first three fingers. This syndrome has become more prevalent due to repetitive micro-trauma of the underside of the wrist, which can be brought about by activities like typing or repetitive motions over a long period of time. We have also found that sleeping position of the wrist can cause CTS. We have used conservative tecniques to help patients heal without painful surgery and loss of work time.
Disc Problems
Discs act like shock absorbers between the bones of the spine. They can tear or bulge if placed under a great amount of stress, usually from trauma or repetitive and improper bending and lifting. Chiropractic adjustments are effective in treating most disc injuries. However, we have found that Spinal Decompression works wonderfully for those patients who do not respond to regular adjustments. If the disc injury proves to be too severe for either of these therapies to offer relief, we work with excellent neurosurgeons who can help.
Whiplash
Whiplash can stem from a car accident, a blow to the back in sports or an on the job injury. Whiplash injuries left untreated can cause more problems months, or even years down the road. The most common symptoms of whiplash are neck pain, headaches, shoulder or arm pain, low back pain, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, nausea, fatigue, weakness and irritability. If you or someone you know has been involved in a car accident, make an appointment to have your spine checked out. To see if chiropractic care can help you. Your spine will thank you for it!
